Section 18
Operation and work, duties and rights of security agencies
: (1) Security agencies should be operated as required in the work of disaster management.
(2) The Government of Nepal may mobilize the Nepali Army for search, rescue and relief operations during disasters.
(3) In relation to disaster management, the security agency should perform the following tasks under the direction and supervision of the executive committee, authorities, the chairman of the state disaster management committee and the chairman of the district disaster management committee:-
(a) To provide early warning regarding possible disasters and to make the community aware of disaster risk reduction,
(B) Upon receiving the information about disaster incidents at any place, it will be circulated immediately and the information will be communicated to the relevant authorities or agencies,
(c) Effectively carry out emergency search, rescue and relief distribution work,
(D) To conduct search and rescue training and public awareness programs on disaster management issues.
(4) The security agency shall have the right to enter any place and use the means and resources of any available person or organization in accordance with the order of the Chief District Officer for disaster response.
(5) The security agency can request necessary materials from the Provincial Disaster Management Committee and the Local Disaster Management Committee for search and rescue operations during disasters.
